The paintings in this exhibition are the result of mixing two or more images from different themes. One source is to do with the process of ageing as observed metaphorically in the corrosion of erosion of certain metals and timbers. The other theme is drawn from personal memories of places visited as are a consequence of this fusion and resulting ambiguities. The paintings exist in their own right as a celebration of their expressive power of colour and shape and should direct the looker into reacting to the emotional vibrations rather than harbouring a need to recognize images. After all, no one says "But what's it meant to be?" when listening to a piece of music like a symphony or concerto.
