Disco Dolls
An exhibition of new works
by Rayleen Clancy
Friday 11th October 2002, 7pm - 9pm
Music by Measca
Disco Dolls explores the theme of youth culture
and investigates issues of identity, beauty, and self-awareness.
"Rayleen's work
features teenagers on the verge of development; on the margins of
becoming streetwise and sassy with lots of attitude and she paints
with that self-same provocative style, very contemporary American
application of paint and setting with additional touches of glitter...Rayleen
Clancy catches the self-conscious, the self-awareness of youth so
well." - Liam Murphy (Munster Express)
Rayleen Clancy studied Film at Dun Laoghaire College
of Art & Design. After graduating she went on to receive a scholarship
to study Fine Art Painting at the prestigious San Francisco Art
Institute. She returned to Ireland in early 2000 and has since been
exhibiting in Art Centres and Galleries around the country. |
